Dolce & Gabbana Belt – Fabulous or Fake
You have the opportunity to purchase a nice gift for your son. You know he is in to the latest fashion, so you decide to get him a Dolce & Gabbana belt. You have done some shopping around and find the belt you like. The problem is one place is offering the belt for $49.50. The other store says the belt sells for $277.00. Can you get an authentic D&G for $49.50? What a great deal! If in fact, it is an authentic Dolce & Gabbana.
What to look for
A few hints were passed down to me as to what to look for in the workmanship of an original D&G belt. I found it very hard to tell on my own. Just looking at a D&G belt, I was not sure what I was looking for. Sometimes, a fake can seem very impressive, that is until you have seen the real D&G item. Here is what I was told to look for:
- If the item belt does not have the original tag with either the hologram or barcode,
be suspicious. It is either a fake, or a used item.
- The stitching along the edges of a Dolce & Gabbana belt is neat, clean and uniform.
- The buckle, whichever one you choose will not have nicks, scrapes, or rough edges. The knockoffs just do not put that much attention into their design.
- The buckle may rest crooked or you will notice the lettering does not have a smoothness to it. The name spelled out should appear as one word without spaces in between. If the buckle has just the D&G, the ampersand symbol should be smaller than the letters. There should not be any metal discoloration at all. Looking good so far?
- On the inside of the belt, if you find the words “Italy” or “Paris” etched in the leather, beware! Do not make the purchase if you want an original Dolce & Gabbana product. The original should have “Made in Italy” or one of the D&G logos or some form of writing in Italian.
- Another thing I noticed on my own, if I want a size 36, I would have to look for a larger number, like 80 or something. The European measuring system is not the same as the U.S.
- If you have already made your purchase, and are still debating if you have received a knockoff, you can visit a website www.madeinitaly.com and enter the barcode from your purchase. You will have to take if from there.

I will not tell you that you cannot find a special price on a Dolce & Gabbana product. Quality merchandise does not always come with a price tag, and sometimes, too good to be true is just that. If your budget does not allow for high scale, merchandise and you find a knockoff that you are willing to purchase, that is okay too. Just do not get ripped off by paying for a D&G product that isn’t an authentic Dolce & Gabbana.
